The Pokémon-like survival game Palworld is a great success. After more than eight million copies sold and several records on Steam, developer Pocketpal has released the 'roadmap' with upcoming updates of Palworld. Here's what players can expect.
This article will be updated as more is known about Palworld's roadmap
Simply described, Palworld is 'Pokémon with guns', but in practice the game borrows from more genres. This is how players survive in an online world, they can grow crops, set up factories and fight together. The monsters, pals, play a major role in this.
Despite its success, Palworld received criticism for its similarities to Pokémon. The Pokémon Company even reported that it is investigating the game.
According to Palworld's roadmap, there are some key features expected in future updates:
PvP
Players will soon be able to battle each other, and Pals will get their own PvP arena.
Trade pals with players in other worlds
It will be possible to trade Pals with other players even if they are not in the same multiplayer session or on the same multiplayer server.
Raids
Palworld will also get raids, where players can fight together in a guild against bosses
Construction system updates
Pocketpair hasn't gone into detail yet, but the game's building system will be improved in the future.
Crossplay between Xbox and PC
Pocketpair is working to make crossplay between players on Xbox and Steam available 'as soon as possible'.
Steam Workshop Support
Although several mods for Palworld are already being developed with Nexux Mods (such as the deleted Pokémon mod), Steam Workshop support is also in the works. This makes it easier for players to install mods via Steam.
New Islands
Currently, the world of Palworld consists of several areas (see below). In the future the game will be expanded with new islands, but which ones are not yet known.
· Windswept Hills Plateau Of Beginnings
· Windswept Hills Flying Fish Coast
· Marsh Island
· Eastern Wild Island
· Sea Breeze Archipelago Reef
· Sea Breeze Archipelago Castaway Beach
· Forgotten Island
· Ice Wind Island
New pals
As expected, the game also gets new pals. Currently the game contains 113, with 175 expected monsters in the final version of the game.
Other updates
Pocketpair is generally working on expanding the game:
“This includes the addition of new monsters to expand the Pal roster, new areas and dungeons to make exploration even more engaging, and the addition of new buildings and items that make the survival elements clearer and more enjoyable, enhancing the unique experience of Palworld becomes even more attractive.
We are also considering incorporating entirely new game systems based on player feedback and ideas.”
Pocketpair is working on the biggest problems
According to a post on Steam about Future, Palworld is experiencing issues due to the game's great success. Resolving these issues is the “highest priority” for the development team. Some other issues, such as in-game time display errors and screen loading issues, have already been addressed. Action has also been taken against cheaters on Steam.
Release date Palworld
Palworld is currently still in Early Access on Steam. The developer indicates that it will take at least one year before the full version is released.
“We believe that it is very important to continuously listen to feedback from our fans if we want to create an exciting and completely new game,” says Pocketpair on Steam. “Palworld is a game where monsters are captured, survival plays an important role and where crafting is important, but it incorporates a variety of mechanics from other genres to provide a completely new experience for everyone.
To gather feedback on these elements and grow the game into something everyone can enjoy, we believe feedback from everyone in the community is necessary.”
The developer also indicates that it will keep players informed with a roadmap, as can be read above. Depending on progress, Early Access will be extended.
Price Palworld
Palworld currently costs €29.99, but the full version may cost more. Players who purchase the game in time will receive the full version upon release.
